The next Social Media Meet-Up: Wednesday, April 29, 6:30 PM. Details here.

Tour Guide Extraordinaire, originally uploaded by WBUR.
WBUR’s monthly social media gatherings were conceived as a means to draw those riding the social media wave together with the old guard to explore ways we may learn from and challenge each other, the aim being to improve our respective crafts.
All fellow travelers are welcome, from social media superstars to bloggers big and small. Non-profit or corporate; professional and amateur. Writers, marketers, journalists, public radio enthusiasts, web developers of every stripe, or heck, those simply with a hankering to get an inside look at a major National Public Radio radio station, are welcome to attend.
Our events are loosely structured, conversationally-rich and participant driven.
Wow, exactly the kind of thing I, as a publicist, would love to attend! Unfortunately I have a rehearsal that evening. In case I can’t change the date of rehearsal, are you going to make the event available either via streaming video or results ‘published’ after the fact?
I would love to come and learn and keep up to date.
Laura Finkelstein
Publicist for The Concord Band, Trio Cordefiato, The Shirley Meetinghouse Concert Series, et al.
Saw on Facebook announcement of WBUR Social Media Meet-Up “The First One of 2009″ on Feb 5th at 7 pm. Link brings you here, but this site doesn’t have that same info (easily available).
Sorry you can’t join us Laura. Rest assured we will have another one, so maybe next time?
Claire. I’ve created another page with event details. Will see if I can find some space here as well.
Turns out that I will probably be able to come after all. Switched my rehearsal to a different day; plus, the publicity director on my (non-profit/music group) board of directors decided to come (I’m the ‘feature’/assistant publicist) so I figure both of us should be there! Will try and drive in with him. We’ve spent the last 2 years trying to get ‘on top of’ all the new electronic adjunct ways to do publicity and this seems like the perfect opportunity to talk shop with some pro’s and find out all the “how to’s” of the exploding media/PR/communications ‘process’ so that we can stay current. Looking forward to attending!
Laura
I’ll bring my autograph book!
Laura: Glad in turned out you can make it after all! These sessions featuring plenty of talk about that “process.”
Never cease to be amazed at the participants’ smarts and insights. Its humbling.
Glenn: LOL. I’ll trade autographs with ya.
Unless my schedule gets changed, It looks like I’ll be working Thursday night, so I look forward to everyone stopping by Studio 1 to say hi. Ken, if you bring everyone down a little bit before 8pm, They can watch me do the 8:04 news. I’ll explain what it means to “combo.”
See you Thursday, February 5th!
Wish I could make it but have to work Thursday nights this semester. Keep me posted!
Awesome news Steve! Thanks. All the more reason to attend folks.
Next time Karen. Rest assured we are going to do this plenty more times in the future.
Ken,
I am looking forward to being there.
Thanks for hosting.

before I go there should I call you??
Can I just go there without any other reaction?
I will make it this month (today). I look forward to the event.
“Our events are loosely structured, conversationally-rich and participant driven.”
The one I attended was incredibly interesting and one of the very few of the zillions of meetings I attend that was actually useful, intellectually engaging, and a real CONVERSATION.
Good for you.
Thank you for it, and I look forward to attending more.
Thanks for the very generous words Maggi.
Its all about the conversation!
