My photography skills are constrained by a considerable lack of talent, and the ego takes a fresh bruising every time I click through the Listener Photo Project.
Through gritted teeth I thank you all.
But I am also feeling the need to amp things up a bit. I say we furnish these beautiful (or in my case “mediocre”) pictures with soundtracks of their own. Your turn to be the radio star! Anyone game out there?
Here’s the plan: Use Utterz to record “something” (and yes, I am being deliberately vague here) to accompany one of the photographs you have submitted to the group. For what it is worth you can see—and hear—the fruits of my recent experimentation below.
For those shutterbugs not in the know, Utterz is an audio-blogging service. Once you set up a free account, all you need do is phone-in your post. It is that simple. And like I said, it is free, so what do you got to lose?
But if you are still reluctant to set up your own account, then try one of ours. Here’s how: First call 1-712-432-6666. At the prompt press “1” and then key in this number: 617-358-0801. You will also be prompted for this pin number: 9009. Additional prompts will guide you through the rest of a very painless recording process.
Please provide some visual cues so I can stitch the audio and photograph together on the “Interact” page.
So let’s give it a whirl. And please comment on any problems you encounter or on ways you think we can build upon this idea, or refine some of the inherent clunkiness of its execution.
Look forward to “hearing” from you.
