My request for feedback largely fell on deaf ears with a couple of notable exceptions. Thank you, Anali. And my special thanks to speed blogger Adam Gaffin for his considered analysis of the ‘bur homepage:
Do something about the home page: It’s way too crowded. Decide if you really think people are going there for breaking news or if it’s going to be a place to learn more about the station and its programs; right now, you’re trying to do both and not doing it very well. If want to go all Web 2.0ish, you could try to fit both in via tabs that stay on the page when you click on them…
And for goodness sake, get somebody in there with a color wheel and pick out a palette and stick with it!
You can read the rest over at Universal Hub.
And Adam, the color wheel has been back ordered. Oy vey.
Clearly we need to tart up the contest a bit, so how fortuitous that today I should bump into the estimable Jonathan Peck, one of the marketing gurus here at 90.9, who beaconed me to a room stacked floor to ceiling with crates à la “Raiders of the Lost Ark.” Rummaging through this veritable mountain of schwag, Jonathan produced the following items: A 90.9 tote bag, WBUR-branded New Yorker note cards, and the pièce de résistance: one Charles River Apparel, WBUR-branded all-purpose jacket. Oh, and let’s not forget the mug.
So folks, as Mr. Gaffin would say, it’s time to “go full-bore kvetch.”
