Ladies and gentlemen! “The Italian Navigator,” a.k.a. David Boeri, resident Tweeter, amateur sleuth, gardener, and orchardist, can now add “blogger” to his resume. Right this way to Boeri’s latest beat.
I don’t give praise lightly, and David has earned my lifetime’s worth. Alongside Bill Littlefield, he is the best damned prose stylist in the building, wielding the “pen” (cut me some poetic license here—”pen” conjures the mood far better than “keyboard”) with a fluid dexterity that puts the rest of us to shame. Naturally, like Bill, David is also a published author.
David’s vivid prose carries the tint of years spent in shadows sniffing out leads down dead-end streets or acquainting himself with the quirks and characters tucked in the Bay State’s backroads and byways. A lifetime resident whose years on the Boston beat exceed the number of years some of you have been on earth, he knows this area from the bones on up. And all metaphor aside, it isn’t much of a stretch to suggest he may know where some actual bones are buried.
I am especially grateful to David for his openness to my ideas about how to use social media to forge new connections with you, our listeners. Some of you may have been at the last Tweet-Up where he listened respectively, not lectured. You so inspired him that he has taken to Twitter himself.
You can give David feedback on his Tweeting, blogging, and other digital trailblazing at the next station event, October 30th @ 6:30 p.m. More details here…
Hope to see you then.
